ForeCast — Privacy Policy

ForeCast is a golf-weather app. It is built to need as little of your data as possible. We do not have accounts, we do not run ad networks, and we do not sell or share personal information. There is no analytics or tracking SDK in the app.

What the app uses

• Location — only when you tap the location button or type a place. Your coordinates are used in the moment to look up the forecast and nearby courses. We do not store your location on any server.
• On-device storage — your saved locations and favorite courses are kept in your browser's local storage, on your device only. Clearing the app's data removes them. They are never uploaded to us.

Course condition reports

ForeCast lets you report how a golf course is playing (dry, soft, wet, or cart-path-only) so other golfers can see recent conditions. When you submit a report, we store on our server:

• the course you reported (its name and approximate coordinates),
• the condition you chose and the date,
• a random device ID generated by the app and stored on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, phone, or any account, and it exists only to prevent duplicate reports. You can reset it any time by clearing the app's data.

Reports are anonymous and aggregated for other users. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, or any personal identifier with a report.

Third-party services

To work, ForeCast sends the minimum needed (a location or a search term) to these providers, each under their own privacy policy:

• Open-Meteo — weather forecast data (latitude/longitude).
• Google Places — place search and golf-course lookup (your typed query and approximate area). Requests are proxied through our server so your request is not tied to an account.
• Esri / ArcGIS — base map tiles.
• Iowa Environmental Mesonet — live weather radar imagery.

Children

ForeCast is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above will be updated.
